The story:Seeing daylight on the 11th of December 1978 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After residing in Amsterdam for 5 years, I, my parents and little brother, moved to a more domestic location, Almere, where I still live. In the years that followed, I developed a taste for music, from golden oldies to Dire Straits and Queen, but especially for the synthesizer kind. I tried to get my hands on everything that came out on cassette (in those days - and later CD's) with all kinds of stuff, from Jean Michel Jarre to Vangelis.
When I was about 11 years old, I got my first keyboard, a very little Casio. At that time I tried to play along with the tracks from Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis. Seeing as a little keyboard isn't enough, at Christmas a few years later, I got a full size Casio. I came to play this very well, but like most things you get bored. It wasn't big or good enough. So a year before my graduation from highschool, as a graduation gift (my parents knew that I would graduate... and ofcourse, I did), I got a real intelligent synthesizer: a real Roland. From that moment, I knew what I wanted to do... Make music! Making music would become my favorite thing to do when I got home from school each day. Even in my college years, when I was studying to become a 'lab technician', I wanted to do nothing more...
So for about 10 years (starting when I was 15), I've been producing music. Or at least, trying to :-) Starting of with the build-in accompanies in the Roland, and later on using a computer with Cakewalk to produce (Happy-)Hardcore. At a point in time, I was given a cassette with Goa-Trance. From that moment on, I now was certain in what direction I wanted to go... Trance was the way to go...! |

On the production side of things, I've always been using Cakewalk. Starting with Professional 3 (it came with my Soundblaster AWE32), to Sonar 2.2 which I use now. I've also always been using MIDI instead of samples. I find that when using MIDI, you have greater control over your sounds. Of course, nowadays virtual instruments are quitte good aswell. So that's why I'm using Cakewalk Project5, with added virtual synths, in combination with Sonar 2.2. Although not easy to master (making virtual synths work), through patience and A LOT of practice I think I'm about ready to try this in a few of my new tracks ("Delikate" being the first).
